Mayor’s Reception Room at Lowell City Hall
The City of Lowell Department of Planning and Development invites you to participate in a public meeting to discuss The Restoration of Two-Way Traffic Patterns in Downtown Lowell.
The City’s consulting engineers from Nelson Nygaard and TEC will present their 25percent designs for the restoration of two-way traffic to Merrimack, Market, Central, and Shattuck Streets as well as the extensive traffic analysis they have conducted to establish the feasibility of this change.
The City is very interested in hearing from Downtown stakeholders to help refine and improve the designs, prior to bidding this winter and construction in the late spring/summer.
Should you have any questions about the meeting or the project, or if you require any special accommodations to participate in the meeting, please contact Transportation Engineer Eric Eby
at 978-674-4252 or eeby@lowellma.gov.

There is a lot to "Like" about Lowell
newly elected Senator Markey had a chance to hear about many of them on his visit. Thank you to Jen Myer for documenting the visit on her blog: http://room50.wordpress.com/2013/08/08/sen-markey-visits-lowell/
One of the things I found most remarkable was this tidbit from Adam Baacke, ” In 2000, the city had 3 million square feet of vacant mill space. Today it is nearly full. That would not have been possible without the tax credits”.
“Three million square feet is three John Hancock Towers, in Lowell,” said Markey.
Certainly never thought of it on those terms…but it does provide a great mental visual.
