King Steet Closing

Message from DPD

King Steet, at the end of Jackson Street, will be closed as part of the DCAM Lowell Trial Court Project, starting at 7AM on Tuesday September 7th. The area will be enclosed with a chain link fence and concrete barriers placed at either end of King Street (at Middlesex and Jackson).

Access between Jackson Street and Middlesex Street will not be impacted by this work. Canal Street will remain open to two-way traffic throughout the project.

My latest artwork is Oscar. It’s my first masculine SUN and he is named in honor of Oscar DeStephano who passed away in 2007. This artwork is made from PASTA. Who doesn’t like PASTA? Please come to Caffe Paradiso for Oscar’s unveiling and to wish Adrianna well.

Thursday Night Concerts on the Corner

The Athenian Corner presents Thursday Night “Concerts on the Corner”, an outdoor music series featuring local musicians in our outdoor seating area. Former “Lowell High Idol” Tim Bergeron kicks off the series Thursday July 8th at 5:30pm. All shows are free and open to the public.

Thursday July 15th will feature the music of another up and coming local artist, Mike Ryan who performed at the Athenian Corner during last year’s Folk Festival weekend. Mike and his band will also perform Friday July 23rd and Saturday July 24th during 2010 Festival weekend.

New Open Meeting Law Regulations

“…July 1 deadline approaches to implement changes to the state Open Meeting Law. Recently adopted by the Legislature, the law requires municipalities to post a meeting notice by 3 p.m. during the week and at least 48 hours before a meeting. The 48-hour period no longer excludes weekends…”

Hmmmm….I wonder how this will effect one’s ability to obtain the License Commission agenda more than 5 hours prior to their meetings? We shall see.

Caffe Paradiso to close

Ted Lavash is organizing an event at the Caffe’ on July 7th at 7PM.
Artist Kathleen Gordon will be unveiling her pasta sun face called “Oskar” after Adriana’s brother.

There will also be a celecration held on Thursday evening July 29th.
