110 Canal Street Closing
I am very pleased to report that earlier this week Trinity Financial completed the financial closing for the next development project in the Hamilton Canal District. The necessary funding has been secured to convert the former Freudenberg Building at 100 Canal St. into Downtown Lowell’s newest commercial office building. Trinity acquired the building from the City at the end of June. The $8 million core and shell renovation is expected to begin in July and take approximately one year to complete. A formal groundbreaking for 110 Canal Street and ribbon cutting for the Canal Street Bridge will be scheduled for later in the summer.

Someone recenlty posted a comment asking for more information about the Mary J. Bacigalupo Victorian Garden on Shattuck Street. The Lowell Community Gardens web site has a page with some history.
Volunteers from Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation who have offices in the Trolley Museum building next door have been kind enough to complete clean-up in spring and fall. Someday we’ll come up with a financial solution to repair the broken gate and the granite pillars.
